As I stated in my last post I have received some favorite recipes from my old Clients over the years when I was a Hair Dresser. Now I’m going to share a sugar cookie recipe that came from Patrica.
Patricia was a baker before MS took over her life and made it too hard to work. She told me that she never could find a sugar cookie recipe that she liked so she went to work on making her own.
This is the recipe she came up with. I’ve used it for probably 20 years.
The cookies are sweet but not so sweet that when you frost them you have sugar overload. They hold together very well for frosting. And I love that the dough can be frozen so you can make it ahead if you’d like. The cookies freeze well too. Making this recipe a winner in my book!
- Part 1
- 3 1/2 C Sifted Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Part 2
- 1 1/2 C Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 1 TBS Milk
- 1 C Butter only NOT Maragine MELTED
- Beat Part 2 till light and fluffy.
- Slowly add Part 1 mix till thoroughly combined
- Chill in the freezer for 30 mins
- Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness
- Cut into shapes
- Bake on an UNGREASED cookie sheet @ 375 degrees for 6-8 mins
- Makes about 4 dozen cookies
Use small amounts of dough at a time so not to over work the dough it will get sticky if this happens don't worry just pop back in the freezer and start again!
This recipe is great for making ahead of time and freezing for later. You can bake them freeze them and pull them out later to frost! They are still perfect! Be careful not to burn them they cook fast! Don’t worry about loading up a cookies sheet they don’t spread out much so feel free to pack them in!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do! Thank you so much, Patricia, for sharing it with me I LOVE it!
